Until about the time I graduated from college, I was definitely not a shellfish person. I didn’t like the briny flavors or the idea of slurping down a slimy oyster. Fast forward to now and I can’t get enough of the stuff. Maybe the palette change comes with maturity? (hah!) With my new found crustacean proclivities, I hit up my local market for my usual Monday shopping routine and noticed that they had a huge pile of fresh prawns for sale. I couldn’t help myself. I filled an entire bag while my head swam with recipe ideas….
As you may know, cheese is my favorite food group. Yes, I said food group. In my book it deserves its own group separate from dairy in which it can shine to all of its cheesy goodness potential. …
When it comes to party appetizers, my Mom has it on lock. She knows how to whip up a tasty snack on the spot and still make it look like she’s having the time of her life mashing a billion avocados in a humongous ceramic bowl. As you may have guessed, I love hosting.
I’ve never been a huge fan of protein bars, mostly because I’m not a big lover of chocolate (weird for a female human being, I know). I figured if I couldn’t find a protein bar that I liked, I might as well try to make one. I had a bunch of random things in my pantry as per usual, so I decided to wing it. Whenever my boyfriend has had a long day at work or I just feel like making an easy hearty meal, 9 times out of 10 this dish is my go to. It’s relatively simple to make, doesn’t require a lot of time or ingredients, and has a really complex savory flavor that neither of us can seem to get enough of….
Sandwiches are pretty much my jam and one of my very favorites is the BLT. The freshness of the lettuce and tomato combined with the crispy saltiness of the bacon really just screams picnic in the park or day at the beach to me. When you toss in a few slices of avocado, you’ve pretty much reached ultimate sandwich Mecca in my book….
If you know anything about me, it’s that cheese and carbs are my everything. I would be perfectly content munching on a wedge of white cheddar and some really good sourdough for the rest of my life if I’m being honest….
After about a few weeks of pestering I finally managed to figure out what my brother wanted to do for his birthday this year and of course it involved Sriracha. We more or less stuck to his original plan of appetizers at my place then hitting up the brewery up the street for beer and skeeball, but we made a few minor adjustments along the way….
My favorite thing about this salsa is how versatile it is. It can be used to top some crunchy tortilla chips, add a little zing to your tacos, slathered on a breakfast burrito, or even eaten by itself with a spoon. I’ve been known to do this for “taste testing purposes”….
