‘Tis the season for party planning, and Christmas desserts are a must in my book. My friend enlisted me with the task of baking the desserts for the Christmas White Elephant party she was having last night so I rose to the occasion and tried to think of the most festive, yet non-traditional desserts I could think of. With a little help from Bon Appetit, the spiced pear upside down cake was a huge hit. Plus it’s pretty impressive looking, which never hurts in the dessert world.

Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes
Whenever I make a recipe that calls for buttermilk, it seems like no matter how much I use, I always have a good amount of the stuff left over. Buttermilk unfortunately isn’t something that you can use in everything and a lot of people (myself included) find it difficult to figure out a way to creatively use that cup or so of that’s still hanging around in the back of the fridge….
Quinoa Protein Bars [GF]
I’ve never been a huge fan of protein bars, mostly because I’m not a big lover of chocolate (weird for a female human being, I know). I figured if I couldn’t find a protein bar that I liked, I might as well try to make one. I had a bunch of random things in my pantry as per usual, so I decided to wing it.
